What is Web 2.0 and Why Do I Need it to Market my Carbon Copy Pro Business ?
By Kevin Thomas
The world of web 2.0 technology and services has completely changed the Internet, how we view it and how we interact and respond with the information that’s on it. Today, web 2.0 is a necessary component of an effective online marketing program like the Carbon Copy Pro System. Without it, you will be severely limiting your capacity to reach out to an extremely large portion of the population.
In the past, the world of the Internet was basically a one sided form of communication. Somebody created a website with whatever information they wanted, and that was that. You could view the page but you couldn’t really do anything else, besides maybe send an email to the site owner. But with the revolution of web 2.0 technology, the Internet became an interactive medium were everyday people can now establish online businesses such as Carbon Copy Pro. Now every single user or browser has the power to create their own content, respond directly to someone else’s content, share information with others in an instant and so on. That, in a nutshell, is what web 2.0 is all about.
There are many different web 2.0 services today that you can utilize to help promote your business. The power of web 2.0 lies in the fact that you gain immediate access to a plethora of potential prospects in ways you never could before. Additionally, you gain the potential to make your content go viral, which is when people find your content and quickly distribute it themselves around the web, sharing the information with friends, relatives and coworkers. When you can make this happen, you basically enlist a force of thousands of salesmen doing the job of marketing your website for free.
Going viral is never a guarantee, and you need the right kind of content to pull it off. In fact, you shouldn’t even try to “go viral”. Instead you should focus on providing high quality, unique content that people will take to. Content can be lots of different things, it can be entertaining, informative, educational and so forth. No matter which of those categories it falls into though, it needs to be wholly unique and it needs to be interesting and engaging. If you create content like this and share it on the major web 2.0 communities there’s a good chance you can begin sending more traffic to your site right away.
The list of web 2.0 services and websites is growing by the day. In one group you have the major profile and friend sites, such as Facebook and MySpace. They can be great for finding prospects who share similar interests aligned with the purpose or ideal of your CCPRO business. There are also the link sharing sites, such as Digg and Reddit. On these sites people post links to articles, pictures or videos and people can vote for them. The more votes your content receives, the more prominently it’s featured and the more attention and traffic you get as a result.
There are also other media sites. For example, Flickr is a place for sharing pictures and You Tube is the biggest video sharing community on the Internet. Finally, all of the buzz in the last year has been about Twitter, a service that lets you quickly send out short, informative blurbs to everyone on your list.
What you have to remember is that all of these sites are different, and an effective web 2.0 marketing strategy will incorporate many different sites and services at once. It also means that what works on one site, such as MySpace, won’t work on another site, such as Twitter or Digg. You have to customize your campaigns to be sure you’re reaching out to the targeted audience in the right way.
All of these websites have unspoken rules of interaction. In other words, the web 2.0 community is based on the interaction of people within that community. That means you need to do more than just post your own content, you need to abide by the unspoken rules and interact with other people and the content they create, commenting on it, voting for it, adding friends and so forth.
Web 2.0 is here to stay, and more sites and services continue to pop up all the time. If you want to take your online marketing efforts to another level, then you need to incorporate web 2.0 into your program and Carbon Copy Pro will show you how to do just that.
